My instrument

This is a "Thouvenel-Henry".
Both names, "Thouvenel"&"Henry"are family names, so it is a double name.
It was made in Mirecourt, France which is famous for the production of musical instruments.
This style is early 19th century.
I bought it from Bernhard Kresse who is a luthier & restorer in Cologne, Germany.
He is a very skillful craftman and a number of artists play instruments which he has made or restored for their concerts or recordings.
I'm glad to say that he and I have kept in contact since I bought this.
The 2 stamps below can be confirmed.

* The work-shop of Bernhard ・Kresse

* About 19th century guitar → click !
* Sound by "easy method" size=183KB

The treble(1,2,3rd)strings are made of tubular sheep guts.
The bass (4,5,6th) strings are wound silks by Pyramid, a German string maker.

* Sound after the additional "polishing process" size=288KB

The treble strings are some of my earlier string-making successes.
The bass strings are " Pro-Arte (lite tension)" by D'Addario in U.S.
* I feel that a polished string has a brighter sound than an unpolished one.

* Sound of wound bass-strings & gut-strings size=1.35MB

1,2,3 are gut-strings that talcum powder is coated on it
and 4,5,6 are my own making brass-wound-strings
* The guitar is Roudhloff c.1830...click !

* Sound of homemade"wound gut" size=107KB

I couldn't wait to string and sound it !
* I feel that is soft and tender. However the sound itself is a little quiet.
* There is still room for improvement in this wound gut string.

* Sound of a homemade "Luxline" size=241KB

* To tell the truth I have not listened a sound like this.
* I feel that is a sound that is unfamiliar to me.
